INTRODUCTION
The Small Times Best of Small Tech Awards honor the best and brightest in tools, materials, people and companies involved in the commercialization of micro and nanotechnology, as well as the products they make. This is the sixth annual awards program highlighting the biggest successes in nanotechnology, MEMS and microsystems during the past year.

CATEGORIES
There are eight categories for which we award an overall winner and four runners-up.
In addition, we also award an individual lifetime achievement award.

Note: This year’s awards feature three new categories. The categories of Application Product, Micro/NanoTool, and Nanomaterial have replaced the former Product category.

Advocate

An industry activist who promotes the small tech industry and assists the organizations and companies within the sector to grow.

An OEM or end-user product that owes its unique characteristics to micro and/or nanotechnology.

An executive of a micro/nano product, tool, material, or services company who is successfully leading his/her company through micro/nano product or service commercialization and market penetration. In addition, serves as a role model for responsible business and creates a positive environment for workers.

Achievement

An individual in any discipline of small tech – research, engineering, business development, public policy, finance – whose career has made consistent and important contributions to the industry.

ELIGIBILITY
To qualify for a Best of Small Tech Awards, with the exception of the lifetime achievement award, accomplishments must be made between July 1, 2006 and
July 1, 2007.

JUDGING
Each award submission is evaluated by the Small Times staff and a distinguished panel of industry experts, relative to each category, and the winners are chosen.
